Richard Roberts will be on The 700 Club today »
The Board of Regents was offended when Green suggested in his first press conference that there be sweeping changes in their membership since all of the alleged scandals happened on their watch. Since that first press conference, the Board has been looking for alternatives which included Pat Robertson. It is also possible that Billy Joe Daugherty, who has ambitions to be ORU President, does not see his chances as good with Green and so there is considerable maneuvering to find a different solution that can be spun in the media to look as good or better than the Mart Green offer.
There is also concern that Green would take ORU away from its Charismatic roots and down a path conforming it more into an Assemblies of God tradition. It’s a bit hard to determine how much is philosophical, and how much is power struggle. But it appears that the only change insiders want is the one they already have with the resignation of Richard Roberts.
